Career and Academic Background before TAOYAKA Program

My name is SEBAL OO from Republic of the Union of Myanmar. I got my Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree at West Yangon Technology University (Myanmar) in 2014. After I graduated, I immediately started to work as an engineering intern at Golden Land Real Estate Development Co., Ltd, one of the private company in Yangon. I started as a young, inexperienced intern out with few responsibilities. I got lot of knowledge about site construction through my internship period. After my internship period was over, the company offered me to work as an Assistant consulting engineer. As an assistant consulting engineer, my main duties were to assist the Consultants in site processes, control the qualities and quantities of the project and data running for government processes. I supported the project by adapting and applying engineering techniques; conducting about government policies and preparing reports and calculations. I worked there for almost three years until I join the TAOYAKA program.

Research Plan in TAOYAKA Program

My research study will be focused on accessibility issues in disadvantaged area and relationship between these issues with long-term migration. The study purposes to clarify the impact of accessibility on regional migration / emigration, by using geographical information data in Japan. In this study, the squared mesh level information, which is larger than the daily activity level, but smaller than the municipality level will be focused. The highlight of this study is longitudinal change in disadvantaged area, to find the condition to decrease the emigration, or to keep the local industrial activities.

Career Plan after TAOYAKA Program

Especially, I am really interested in planning. For every public work, not only in civil work but also in other sectors such as energy, education, environmental conservation and disaster prevention fields etc., the planning is very important to achieve targeted success. In specifically, I have a great interest in accessibility and appropriate land-use in disadvantaged area for regional development. This is also related migration/ emigration and population problem. My ultimate goal is to become a skillful engineer in planning field, where I can use my professional abilities. Then, I want to become a leader in communities to contribute actively in development of those disadvantage area including my own country in future.

I believe that TAOYAKA program will fulfill my ambition and will lead to the career that I want to choose in future.
