(Oct. 3) Taoyaka Program Opening Ceremony wad held
We would like to extend a warm welcome to 4 students admitted to TAOYAKA program, October 3, 2017. Congratulations.

Tunchai Mattana, Graduate School of Advanced Sciences of Matter, TAOYAKA Program, will present at 2017 Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition Semi-Final!!
Tunchai Mattana, the winner of the Global Challenge Award at the Three Minutes Competition for Future Doctors 2016, will compete with 54 winners coming across from the region at the Asia-Pacific 3MT Semi-Final, to be held at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. You can watch her presentation via live-stream.

She will be the fourth presenter at the fourth round. Her presentation is expected to start from 10:52am Japan Time. If she gets successfully selected as one of the 10 finalists, she’ll be advanced to the Final, which will start from 2:00pm Japan Time. Don’t miss it!

Completion ceremony was held on September 20th
Taoyaka Program completion ceremony was carried out on September 20th and 4 students of the first graduating class were celebrated by faculty members and staffs, their junior students, and their family on their accomplishment and their completion of the program.
Professor Miyatani, program director, encouraged the graduating students to take an active role in the society as a global leader from now on and extended respect to them for the efforts and hard work they put in the program.
We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
Taoyaka Program held “Onsite Training” in Oki Island
Taoyaka Program held the Onsite Training titled “Commercialization of emerging technologies for creation of supporting industry to realize sustainable forest resource management” from 22-26 August in Oki islands, Shimane pref. This program was jointly conducted with the University of Texas at Austin and other two Leading Programs, Global Resource Management of Doshisha University. In this training, 25 students from 11 countries with diverse background made interdisciplinary teams and learned issues confronting Oki and efforts to be taken for development of “Midori no Konbinat (Green Complex)” from various perspectives and created development model. The training was successfully completed today thanks to the kind cooperation of Okinoshima municipal government, Fujii Consultants, Oki -Dogo Forestry Cooperation.

The 104th TAOYAKA Program Seminar was held
The 104th TAOYAKA Program Seminar was held on Tuesday, April 25.
The year of 2017 is specially acknowledged as The Year of Japan-India Friendly Exchange as a product of the two Prime Ministers’ significant discussion about the bilateral relationship between Japan and India. This seminar was held as a part of the “Seminar Lectures for Promoting International Peace, Leadership, Compassion, Eternal values and Non-Violence based on the Ideology of Mahatma Gandhi in Japan from 16th to 26th April 2017“.
It was delighted to have a lecture by Ms.Shobhana Radhakrishna,Chief Functionary, Gandhian Forum for Ethical Corporate Governance , who have lived in Gandhi Ashram and on her mission to take Ghandhi”s life and doctrine to people”s lives.
We also would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. T. Armstrong Changsan, Consul General at the Consulate General of India , Osaka – Kobe, Japan for coming to Hiroshima University for this seminar. It was also appreciated for the kind support of Mr. Ravi Chopra, the President of the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association-India, Discover Japan Club, India and Centre for Gandhian Vision and Values, coming with Ms. Shobhana Radhakrishna.
The seminar provided us a valuable learning opportunity and an eye-opening experience.

Career Exploration and Advising session was held on March 3rd 2017
Career Exploration and Advising session titled “Meet TAOYAKA’s Professional Mentors!” was held on March 3, 2017.
In this session, students were provided opportunity to:
■ Learn how to build professional career path from TAOYAKA program’s professional mentors’ diverse academic backgrounds
■ Present on your research and career goals, then receive professional advice from TAOYAKA program’s professional mentors to build your career pat
■ Identify skill sets needed to succeed on your career path
■ Gain some tips how to connect your research to actual job opportunities

A Taoyaka Program student received “Special award” at Campus Venture Grand Prix 2016.
A Taoyaka student, Thomas Michael Kloepfer, (Social Implementation Course, Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation, D1) received “Special award (Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Award)” at Campus Venture Grand Prix 2016, Chugoku region.
