「Are You Asking Good Questions? : The interview skill you need to know for successful bottom-up research & projects 」と題したボトムアップのプロジェクトや研究のための対話型ワークショップを開催します

 たおやかプログラムでは、１２月９日（土）認定NPO法人 ムラのミライの創設者であり、かつ、条件不利地域の人々との話し方の手法として、メタファシリテーション手法を築かれた和田信明氏を招き、ボトムアップのプロジェクトや研究のための対話型ワークショップを開催します。

たおやか学生２名が未来博士３分間コンペティションで受賞しました

2017年11月25日(土)に開催された「未来博士3分間コンペティション2017」にて、たおやかプログラムの学生2名が受賞しました。

コンペティションでは，260名のオーディエンスを前に，本学をはじめ10大学の博士課程後期学生36名が1枚のスライド，持ち時間3分で研究内容のプレゼンテーションを行いました。

たおやかプログラムからは4名の学生が参加し，審査員及び審査オーディエンスの投票等の結果，NOVI SYAFTIKA (ノフィ シャフティカ) さんが最優秀賞、オーディエンス金賞（英語部門）、企業・団体賞（シュプリンガー・ネイチャー賞）の３つを受賞をし，銭谷　宙さんが企業・団体賞（JSW日本製鋼所賞）を受賞しました。おめでとうございます。

Novi Syaftika（工学研究科博士課程後期3年　技術創生コース)
Title: Fueling your car with garbage and wastewater: possible?

“I have an interest in public speaking so when I heard about this competition, it instantly attracted my attention. My motivation was mainly training myself to improve my presentation skill. Presenting about PhD research in 3 minutes was very challenging. We have to be able to deliver the message in an attractive way to the audience who come from different background, also who are non-native and native English speakers in a very short time. I revised the slide and the script several times, and the last hardest part is to memorize the script and conquer the nervous feeling. I was lucky that some friends helped me practicing and improving my performance. It was an honor to represent Taoyaka and Hiroshima University. Receiving 3 awards at once was unbelievable! However, conquering fear, gaining experience, and expanding network are the achievements that I believe obtained by all contestants. It gave me the motivation to keep learning and improving myself. It was the most unforgettable 3 minutes in my life! Thank you for all the support!”

銭谷　宙（工学研究科博士課程後期2年　技術創生コース）
タイトル：有機半導体が世界の条件不利地域で活躍する！？

自身の研究を三分間のスピーチでまとめ上げるには、それなりの準備が必要でしたが、この準備自体が研究の意義や重要性を見つめ直すいい機会になったと思います。自身の研究の中で本当に伝えたいことは何なのか？そのことを自問自答しているうちに、スピーチする内容は自然と出来上がっていました。今回は自分自身の研究だけでなく、たおやかプログラムで経験したオンサイト教育のことを織り交ぜてスピーチをしました。世界に数多くある条件不利地域の存在とそこに住む人々の生活のことが、聴いてくださった皆さんに少しでも届いていれば幸いです。

　Mexico features unique　education　system.　It　has　very　long　compulsory　education　period,　and　often　changes　education　laws. This lecture introduces dynamics of Mexican education reforms and remaining challenges.　
　Since late 1980s, Mexico has undertaken educational reforms aiming at increasing the quality of education, make the system equitable, and arrange a highly bureaucratic management. The government and the powerful National Teachers Union (SNTE) agreed to achieve those ends. In 1992 both parties signed the National Agreement for the Modernization of Basic Education; the federal government transferred to the states many duties and resources, but the system did not improve, quite the contrary. In the second attempt, called the Alliance for the Quality of Education, the government transferred to the Labor Union many of its legal obligations. The SNTE bosses became the rectors of education.　
　On December 1, 2012, President Peña Nieto launched the third attempt. This time without an accord with SNTE, but against it. The Peña Nieto Reform re-centralized many functions that past administrations relocated to the state governments and took over portions of the power of the Union leaders, including the imprisonment of some of them.
　The reforms appear to be working fine against some corporatist traditions of the Mexican education system but in a very complex political context.　The lecturer will base his analysis on two concepts: power technology and dialectics of control in regards to Mexican education reforms.

たおやかプログラムの学生による分野融合セミナーシリーズ　｢TAOYAKA Program Seminar Series｣ を11月16日(木)より開催します。

このセミナーシリーズは、学生からの要望もあり、昨年度から開始しました。分野融合セミナーとして、特に異コースの学生のアカデミックレベルでの情報交換・交流の場、また、専門以外の人にもわかりやすく自分の研究や学習を発表できる場を提供しています。　また、たおやかプログラムの3つのコースの学生がひとつの問題解決に取り組む、オンサイトチームプロジェクトのチーム編成のために重要な役割を果たします。　前学期に引き続き、運営・実施についても、主に3つのコースから選出された、たおやか学生代表が担当します。

シリーズは通常２つのセミナーで構成され、発表者は、たおやかプログラムの３つのコース（技術創生、文化創生、社会実装コース）の中から２つの異分野のコース学生が担当します。
2017年度後期は全3回で、木曜日の午後12時50分 から14時20分に 大学会館のたおやかクラスルームで開催しています。以下の詳細をご覧下さい。　どなたでもご参加いただけますので、お時間がありましたら是非ご参加ください。

The immigrant population is an important force shaping American cities in numerous ways. In designing viable policy and planning responses to incorporate immigrants at the local level, we need to understand their residential mobility patterns in the housing market and occupational mobility patterns in the labor market, both of which are pathways to economic mobility. This presentation synthesizes my two recent research projects which examine 1) immigrants changing residential location choices over time both within and across metropolitan areas and 2) the evaluation of the top employment niches that immigrants concentrate in from 1990 to 2010 using U.S. Census data. In addition, I will discuss a new local policy trend called “welcoming city” as a recent policy innovation to engage the immigrant population in urban development.

たおやかプログラム第一期修了生のタンチャイ・マッタナさんが2017年３MTアジア大会 準決勝戦にてCosmos Editor’s Choice賞を受賞しました

2017年9月29日、「未来博士3分間コンペティション2016」のグローバルチャレンジ賞受賞者、 タンチャイ・マッタナさん（広島大学大学院先端物質科学研究科博士課程　たおやかプログラム第一期修了生 ）が、3分間研究プレゼンテーション大会の本場、クイーンズランド大学で開催された3MTアジア大会 準決勝戦に本学を代表して出場され、各国から集まった精鋭達54名と競いました。8割がオセアニア諸地域からの代表者、日本からの代表者はたった1人という状況下で堂々と自身の研究について分かりやすく発表、健闘され、Cosmos Editor’s Choice （サイエンス誌「Cosmos」の編集者が選ぶ冠賞）を受賞されました。マッタナさんのプレゼンテーション動画（下記参照）がコスモス誌のウェブサイトに公開される予定です。

マッタナさんは、「非常に大規模な大会だったので緊張したが、各国から集まった発表者たちとも交流を図り、非常に有意義な一日だった」と話していました。
